It is the highest national ranking of any men’s soccer team in school history. Last week, they debuted in the poll at No. 11. The club enjoyed a pair of victories last week with a 3-2 win over Lander on Wednesday before edging Limestone 1-0 on Saturday.

In addition to the No. 7 national ranking the Cobras are ranked No. 1 in the Southeast region, another program first. Other Conference Carolinas schools that are ranked in the Southeast Region include Lees-McRae at No. 6, Barton College at No. 8 and Limestone College at No. 10.

“I am excited about the success that our men's soccer team is experiencing this fall,” Coker College Director of Athletics Lynn Griffin said. “Their hard work on and off the field representing Coker College is evident."

Coker has won 11 straight games, the longest in school history. It is also off to the best-ever start with a 12-1 overall record and a 7-0 mark in the Conference Carolinas. The previous best was 7-0, set back in 2009.

Carlos Recinos, a junior from Houston, Texas, has led the charge for Coker, posting 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. In the conference, Recinos is tied for fourth in goals and tied for third in assists and points. He netted his sixth and seventh game-winning scores in the Cobras’ two wins last week. For his efforts he was selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's soccer Player of the Week.

Goalie James Sweeney has also played a huge role in the streak. He’s allowed just nine goals all season, saving 36 shots along the way. His goals-against average of 0.66 is best in the conference, and his .800 save percentage and nine goals against are both good for third in the league.

The Cobras’ 11-game winning streak has been impressive to say the least. During the current stretch, Coker has outscored its opponents 28-7. They are a perfect 6-0 at home on the season, and their lone loss of the year came Sept. 5 at Rollins, a 1-0 defeat.

Coker looks to extend its streak on Wednesday with a trip to Barton.

-------------------------------------------------rapschttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07896125472789672812noreply@blogger.com
